
THE STORY
SHC Music Tribe is the brainchild of Gambrills, Maryland resident Susie Markland. SHC Music Tribe host live shows with her friends and family featuring some of the country's finest songwriters and performers. At the suggestion of songwriter David Glaser, SHC Music Tribe humbly began with a music series in her home in Maryland attended by invitation only.
With the help of many friends and fellow music lovers a.k.a The Tribe, beginning in 2015 Markland moved her concert series to other locations giving the series different names while trying to leverage the support she had obtained.. Susie and Soda in Mt Airy MD, Susie's Singer-Songwriter Series at The Woodshop in Gambrills, MD, The Old Town Bowie Concert Series in Bowie MD, and Susie's Songwriter Series at The Mansion on O in NW DC are just a few locations that provided the space for songwriters and performers to share their innate gift of song.
In addition to hosting concerts, Markland is a regular presence at music conferences and festivals including Folk Alliance International, The Americana Fest, the Kerrville Folk Festival, The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival and South By Southwest in Austin, TX (SXSW). Markland has regularly hosted a popular showcases since 2010 at The Northeast Folk Alliance. She successfully hosted and promoted at SXSW and for the past 3 years has hosted the annual East Coast Social Club Official Americanafest official events in Nashville, TN. She has coordinated several in the round shows at the legendary Bluebird Cafe.
During COVID she orchestrated online broadcasts to benefit The O Museum in The Mansion on O Street. Broadcasts included an interview with famed guitarist Skunk Baxter, a presentation by renowned author Chip Duncan, musical artist, Kenny White and the program "Every Step Tells a Story" .
Since 2008 Susie has hosted over 100 shows with many acclaimed and nationally known songwriters; including, Kim Richey, Darden Smith, Ari Hest, Will Kimbrough, Cliff Eberhardt, Kenny White, Louise Mosrie, Eric Brace, Peter Cooper, Thomm Jutz, Jimmy "Daddy" Davis, Dan Navarro, Marc Douglas Berardo, Walt Wilkins, Los Texmaniacs, Danny Schmidt and Carrie Elkin, Raina Rose, Rebecca Loebe, Bob Sima, Amy Speace, Suzie Vinnick, Jonathan Byrd, StrayByrds, Eric Taylor, Jeff Plankenhorn, Rebecca Loebe, Joe Crookston, Anthony DaCosta, Laurie McClain, Joe Crookston, John Elliot, David Olney, Amelia White , Bruce Sudano, Nora Jane Struthers, Ben de la Cour, Freebo and Alice Howe, David Jacobs-Strain and Bob Beach, Callahan, Jesse Terry, Rachel Sage, Robby Hecht and a host of others.
Susie's House Concerts has evolved into is a traveling, rambling musical singer-songwriter showcase that can happen anywhere, anytime. The new name SHC Music Tribe represents a conglomeration of the names, the places, the artists and the patrons that have been a part of the evolution.
SHC Music Tribe actively supports many great singer-songwriters finding booking opportunies and is manager of award winning songwriter Marc Douglas Berardo.
